Arizona/Utah Trip – PAGE

It was a 3 hour drive to Page from Sedona and a really beautiful drive through a canyon, switchbacks, Flagstaff and Navajo land. We had signed up for a sunset Horseshoe Bend slot Canyon tour. We had enough time to eat some lunch, check into our hotel and meet the tour. Our guide Tom led us through the private slot canyon and then out to Horseshoe Bend. Because it’s a private slot canyon and this is the only tour operator, our group was the only one in there. It wasn’t rushed or crowded. Then Tom took us through the private entrance on the Navajo side of Horseshoe Bend and that was really cool. We were the only ones there and had plenty of time to explore and watch the sun go down.

The next day was one of the big reasons I wanted to come back to Page. I wanted to paddle on Lake Powell into Antelope Canyon. Two of my favourite things – stand-up paddle boarding and slot canyons! We rented paddle boards from Lake Powell Paddleboards and Kayaks. They outfitted us well and gave us precise directions on where to go and where to launch. This was needed because the water level has decreased so much that many of the boat launches are now out of the water. There were some outfitters that would not even rent to us and would only offer guided tours. We found where to go and had a perfect day!

Our other adventure out of Page was kayaking down the Colorado river through Marble Canyon. We saw Horseshoe Bend from the cliffs above and then from the water as we paddled around it – woohoo! We used Kayak the Colorado to book our kayaks and the backhaul service that ferried us up the river so we could kayak back down. They were really great and super accommodating when we wanted to change the date due to weather with just a days notice. We had great adventure, good eats and stunning scenery in Page.
